White bedroom

Unfortunately, this is not my room but I just love the way the wall and the whole room is decorated. The style is totally me, although when I post pictures of my house you'll see there is a big difference. I had my parent's bedroom set shipped to me after my Dad passed away. It's from the 1920's, a huge sleigh bed with matching dresser and chest. It's really beautiful, and I try to accent the room with the white shabby style we all love.

A favorite table

I got this sweet little gate-leg table years ago from one of my favorite antique dealers here in Austin. I've sold almost all of my "inventory" left over from my own antique booth at a mall here, but would never want to part with this. The lamp and shade are a "marriage", the shade is from England and just fit perfectly.

Remembering Heath Ledger

1 year ago today we lost a very talented actor, Heath Ledger. He was most famous for Brokeback Mountain, but he was also excellent in A Knight's Tale, Casanova, and of course Batman, The Dark Knight.
He was also the loving father of Mathilda.

Starting over, new thoughts

Starting over. I guess we all start the new year with thoughts of new beginnings, anticipation of good things to come. And so it is with my "new" old blog. Never really got it started in '08, but looking forward to spending a lot of time here.

I'll be posting pics of my home and look forward to all your comments. I love to get all sides, so always feel free to say what you think. How can we learn and change if we don't hear everyones ideas? I'm always on the look-out for ideas for making my house better.

So to kick off the new year, I'm going to have a give-away. Just leave me a comment to enter and on Valentine's Day I'll pick a winner. Make sure you leave your email address so I can get in touch. The winner will receive a copy of "The Comforts of Home" by Atlanta Bartlett, a small white pitcher, a bone china trinket box made in England and a glass pedestal candle holder. The book is fabulous, sub-titled "creating relaxed rooms with a romantic feel".

Cheers,
Nancy
